Titan Tower

Our Big Antenna Project

For three years after moving here, Sylvia and I had used simple antennas. We finally decided to enlist the help of our friend and neighbor Larry Curtiss to put up a taller tower and bigger antenna.

Our long time friend Brent Williams, WB8TRL, did the work on the tower.

We hired Frank Brownell of Charlotte Crane Service to do the heavy lifting.

With this team, we have erected 72 feet of Trylon T-500 tower. The antenna is a Force 12 C-4XL, which covers the 40, 20, 15 and 10-meter bands. It also works on 17 and 12 meters. A Yaesu G-1000DXA rotator turns the C-4XL to the desired direction.
